United Kenya Rising (UKR), formerly Kakamega Orphans Care Centre, was founded in 2001. It began as a free meals program for less fortunate children and later grew into a residential children’s home. In 2019, we adopted the Family Care model, where we support the whole family in their respective homes as compared to our earlier model where we supported only one child from a family. Through the model we successfully re-integrated all children from our residence program back to their respective families. Currently, we are supporting over 200 families from Kakamega and neighboring counties
