Despite facing challenges after losing her parents at a young age, Lavin never lost hope, her spirit remained unbroken.
Raised by her elderly grandmother, Lavin’s life was marked by a series of hurdles that would have discouraged many. Yet, she remained focused on her goal.
The turning point in Lavin’s life came with the support of the UKR program when she was in grade 5. This support provided her not just with financial assistance, but with a foundation of stability and encouragement that was important for her academic success.
The resources and emotional backing from UKR allowed Lavin to concentrate fully on her studies, reducing the stress of her family’s financial situation and enabling her to excel.
In high school, Lavin’s dedication became increasingly evident. Her academic excellence in Mathematics, Biology, and Kiswahili, coupled with her leadership roles as class and math leader, showcased her commitment and versatility.
Her experiences extended beyond academics; volunteering as a science teacher at a local school offered her a chance to empower other students.
As Lavin prepares to embark on her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at Kenyatta University, she views this opportunity as a notable step toward achieving her dream.
