Among life many experiences, one that stood out for Brollin was when his family was enrolled in the UKR program. To him, it ushered in new prospects in his life, prospects that marked a significant change. Life slowly become navigable for his family as he saw the much and bulky burden of paying school fees for him and his siblings offloaded from his parents.
He admired how his elder sister was always happy in high school. He reminisced how his elder brother would vividly exhibit enthusiasm about his campus life. He recalled how the mood at home changed for better moments since his parents could afford to cater for the family’s basic needs. He spoke highly of how his family bond had been strengthened. All this courtesy of the support UKR accorded to the family.
It is these acts of compassion that drove and instilled values of humanitarianism in him and he promised himself when he comes to age, he would wish to be a philanthropist just like UKR sponsors and donors. To him, the much support UKR accorded to him and his family through the family care model was of immense impact and ought to be reciprocated.
Today, Brollin is all smiles after successfully passing his high school exit exams KCSE, and attaining the required grades to join university. He has received a call up to join Chuka University to study Bachelors of Economics and statistics.
He attributes this success to the education support in school fees and scholastic that made him have a smooth transition in school and also for the financial support his mother got towards helping her restock her small electrical shop which her mother used to support the family.
Brollin exudes confidence that joining Chuka university will be a momentous chance to spur change in Kenya’s economy. “There are fewer economists in Kenya and this course is going to give me an upper hand in solving Kenya’s economic crisis. I look forward to the day through combined efforts of me and other economics, Kenya will have a stable economy,” he said.
Brollin has set his mind on his studies and says if given the much needed support in university fees, it will be a good opportunity to further uplift his family and in future follow the steps of UKR and be a philanthropist.
His mother is very elated and holds his boy with high esteem saying he is destined for greatness. “I am proud of him. He has shown the urge that he wants to learn and be better. He is very curious to improve our lives and with UKR’s support, I believe all his life dreams and ambitions will come true,” she said.
