Throughout Immaculate’s life, an intense passion for nursing was always evident. From warmly welcoming guests to finding out what they need, Immaculate has had an eye of caring for people.

The passion was fueled further during a visit to Kakamega General Hospital when her grandmother was sick due to old age complications. While not her first visit, this particular visit left an inerasable mark. It was how the nurses engaged with patients that crystallized Immaculate’s calling. The calling to serve others with dignity and care spurred her academic and professional pursuit.

Moreover, beyond the spirit of nursing lies a vibrant spirit who delights in witnessing others enjoy life’s moments. She finds discomfort in others’ discomfort, thus relentlessly seeking to uplift all. “It is from this nature that I want to help bring relief to the ailing,” she said.

Having been raised by her grandmother after her mother’s demise, Immaculate and her two sisters, courtesy of United Kenya Rising (UKR) received education support which assisted Immaculate to complete high school. She has received a calling letter to study Diploma in Nursing at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

Immaculate revealed that her short term goal is to immerse herself in diverse care giving as a nurse and gain holistic insights in the field. Long-term aspirations include ascending to leadership positions (to be nurse in charge), establishing her own medical facility, and championing better health services wherever she will be serving.

She also wants to travel over sees where care giving nurses are on high demand. “I want to gain that experience of an international nurse. Moreover, if the pay is good, I can change home. My grandmother deserves a comfortable life after sacrificing a lot to raise us.”

The grandmother Winnie is so much excited to see Immaculate get into school of nursing. “It is like a dream come true, one of my own has a chance to be someone of value in the society. Immaculate has fostered self-discipline which I believe will take her to greater places,” she said.

Immaculate believe with UKR’s financial support, she will be a resourceful person in the society and help her actualize her academic ambitions.
